Angry Residents Storm & Vandalise Police Station

Angry residents from Magena, Bomachoge Borabu, Kisii County, on Saturday attacked a police post in the area accusing the officers of laxity.

The more than 500 youths stormed the police post after criminals killed one person on Friday night.

Police officers who were on duty were forced to seek reinforcement from the nearby Kiango GSU camp and surrounding police stations.

The angry mob is said to have blocked the Kisii-Kilgoris road and also vandalised the police post while airing their grievances.

We have been experiencing insecurity in the area, we call upon the security agencies to do investigations and give us a report on what happened to a person who was killed and his body was discovered 500 meters from the police station,” James Omwoyo one of the protest leaders stated.

Area Assistant County Commissioner Mwele Ngao assured residents that security personnel were investigating the killing.

"Our people should remain calm and allow police to investigate the issue. Eventually, the culprits will be arrested," Ngao pleaded.

The deceased's body was found more than 500 meters from the station on Saturday morning.

Capital News reported that the victim's body had deep cuts on the back of his head, while police claimed that the body had been dragged to the spot by unknown people.

According to reports by The Standard, the locals claimed that the area has had a number of unresolved murder cases.
