Kabogo's Legacy Lessons to Uhuru Following Numerous Scandals

Former Kiambu Governor, William Kabogo, has called on President Uhuru Kenyatta to redeem his legacy by striking the whip on corrupt civil servants.

During an interview with the media, the former governor stated that corrupt officials painted a bad picture on the president's legacy.

He proposed that those implicated in corruption scandals should step down and allow investigations to take place, regardless of their positions in the government.

“What does the constitution state about civil servants implicated in scandals? If you are implicated in any way, kindly do the honorary thing and step aside. If you are clean, you will be validated once the investigation is done,” the former governor noted.

He added that the numerous corruption cases, dragged for long by the Judiciary, made the country lag behind in of matters development.

“Let's not bury our heads under the sand and assume that everything is okay. The time is now ripe for Uhuru to strike the whip to those who are dragging the country backwards. It's also the right time for the Judiciary to redeem its lost glory,” he divulged.

Kabogo's sentiments come a day after Treasury CS, Henry Rotich, was detained by DCI officials following a directive by Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji.

The CS was detained alongside Treasury Principal Secretary, Kamau Thugge, Chief Executive Officer of NEMA, Geoffrey Wahungu, among others.

They were grilled further on the payment of Ksh20 billion to an Italian firm, CMC di Ravenna, for the construction of the Kimwarer and Arror dams.
