Francis Atwoli's Demand to DCI After CS Rotich's Arrest

COTU Secretary-General, Francis Atwoli, on Tuesday, made a demand to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations after the arrest and release on bail of Treasury CS, Henry Rotich.

In an interview with The Star, the outspoken leader asked the DCI, together with the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP), to nab more fish in order to end corruption in the country.

Atwoli further praised President Uhuru Kenyatta and the two agencies revealing that he was happy with their development so far.

"The president, the DCI and the DPP are doing a good job and I am happy that corrupt officials in this country are being brought to book," stated Atwoli.

"The managers who have brought down big companies such as Mumias Sugar, Nzoia Sugar, Chemelil and Sony should be prosecuted.

"We cannot be investing in our companies, then top managers siphon the money. Residents in those areas who used to depend on sugar farming as a source of their livelihood are now very poor. Where is humanity?" he added.

The fiery leader further asked the two agencies to trade their guns towards the oil industry arguing that their prices are too high and that something was at play.

On Monday, Rotich was taken into custody after months of a well-orchestrated probe that included international detectives from Italy, UK and Dubai.

Rotich presented himself to DCI moments after the DPP ordered for his arrest in connection with the Arror and Kimwarer dams scandal.

He was, however, released on a Ksh15 million cash bail and the case is set for mention on August 8, 2019, which will then determine the pre-trial date.

Rotich was arrested alongside his PS, Kamau Thugge.
