Speeding Vehicle Rams Into 22 Children Playing Football

A speeding vehicle killed one child in Rongai after it rammed into a group of 22 children, who were playing football.

Witnesses narrated that they noticed something unusual with the vehicle's movements and tried to warn the driver before the incident occurred, The Standard reports.

The children, who saw the vehicle speeding towards them, started running in a state of confusion. It is during this time that Melvin Kinuthia was hit by the vehicle and was taken to Mariakani Hospital.

He was, however, pronounced dead on arrival.

Speaking from Umash Funeral Home where the boy's body is being preserved, the boy's mother, Ajeline Gitau, recounted that she had talked to her son before he went out to play.

"He loved football. He was a very talented boy. I'm still confused and in disbelief that he is gone," she stated.

Kajiado County OCPD, Joseph Mwika, cited that the suspect was in custody after a court in Ngong granted the police seven days to probe further.

In yet another incident that occurred at the Soko Mjinga market in Kinangop Constituency, Nyandarua County, three people died on the spot and others were seriously injured after they got hit by a truck.

Two of those who died were loading vegetables to the vehicle while one was attending to her customers.

Daily Nation reported that the truck driver lost control and hit pedestrians along the Nakuru-Nairobi highway.
