Former Capital Group Editorial Director Michael Mumo, on Wednesday, landed a flamboyant job in Nairobi county.
Mumo was named a board member of the Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company.
The journalist had previously worked at the radio station since 2003 and at Nation Media Group (NMG) prior to joining Capital FM.
Mumo quit the station early in the year stating that he needed to concentrate on private consultancy and other business ventures.
Reports by Capital FM highlighted that the reconstitution of the board came at a time when the company had been recording losses in millions emanating from illegal water connections and leakages.
The board also has an onerous task of ridding off water cartels blamed for water shortage in the capital city mainly in slums and parts of Eastlands.
The Nairobi County Assembly Water committee chairman, Paul Kardos, also disclosed to The Star that a new board was put in place on Wednesday.
“Now that we have a new board we are looking forward to having a strong team that will be of service to the residents of Nairobi,” he told the publication.
Others named in the board include former Nairobi Woman representative aspirant Karen Nyamu, former Nairobi Central Business District Association Chairperson Timothy Muriuki, Emmah Muthoni, Mohammed Abdi, Beryl Odinga, Finance CEC Charles Kerich, and County Secretary Leboo Ole Morintat.
In August 2017, Governor Mike Sonko suspended the Board following complaints by the union. They had claimed that the board was plotting to sell the firm, a claim that the Board’s Chairman Raphael Nzomo refuted.
