Al Shabaab Safe Haven Flattened in Surprise KDF Raid

Kenyan security forces dealt a huge blow to Al Shabaab, following a surprise raid on one of their safe havens.

The Wednesday attack targeted a health services and centre camp located in Ijaara area in Lower Garissa, North Eastern Kenya.

Gaame is renown for being located in a geographically complex area that is difficult to navigate towards.

However, the security forces armed with credible information gathered by the intelligence branch, combed the area and discovered the centre.

Reports revealed that a cache of weapons, explosives, foodstuffs and medicine were confiscated during the raid.

The discovery of dozens of used ceftriaxone (Rocephin Antibiotic) injectable’s, all but confirmed that the camp had been serving as a treatment centre for critically wounded and sick terrorists.

Ceftriaxone, sold under the trade name Rocephin, is an antibiotic used for the treatment of a number of bacterial infections, making it a perfect remedy for bullet wounds that are susceptible to infections.

Further reports claimed that the centre also served as an explosive assembly point, with large amounts of explosive powder used in the fabrication of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) impounded following the raid.

The move comes just four days since residents of Ras Kamboni village on the Lamu-Somalia border were held temporarily under house curfew, as security personnel, led by the Kenya Defense Forces, combed the area in search of suspected al Shabaab militants.

The security agencies were acting on intelligence that the terrorists had arrived in the area, and were planning future attacks within the country.
