Former Kenya Valley Development Authority (KVDA) director, David Kimosop, was apprehended at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on Friday morning.
Security officers lay in wait at the international airport, for the suspect implicated in the Ksh63 billion Arror-Kimwarer dam saga.
Reports by the Daily Nation revealed that Kimosop was arrested just as he cleared the airport security check, on his way back from DR Congo.
He was then reportedly whisked off to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters along Kiambu Road.
The 55-year-old joined KVDA in 2012 and was tasked with initiating key projects in the arid basin that covers Baringo, Turkana, West Pokot, Elgeyo-Marakwet and Samburu counties.
Before joining KVDA, the University of Nairobi alumnus worked in the internal audit department at KCB, steadily climbing up the ladder to head it.
His alleged co-conspirators, former National Treasury Cabinet Secretary, Henry Rotich and his Principal Secretary, Kamau Thugge, had on Tuesday denied abuse of office, neglect of duty among other charges laid against them, in connection to the dam saga.
They were then released on a Ksh50 million bond with an alternative cash bail of Ksh15 million, with Justice Douglas Ogoti ordering them to steer clear of their offices, unless accompanied by an investigating officer.
Kimosop is among 28 other individuals faced with charges over the alleged multi-billion Kimwarer and Arror dams scandal.
The controversy surrounding the dams project placed him in the spotlight, as the DCI focused on bribery claims and possible wastage of taxpayers’ money.
