Larry Madowo Narrates Time He Begged Ken Okoth to Run for Governor

Media personality, Larry Madowo, on Saturday, disclosed that he once implored the late Kibra MP Ken Okoth to vie for the governorship of Nairobi.

Taking to Twitter, the BBC Africa business editor stated that he last saw Okoth in Paris in June.

He revealed that the outspoken legislator was not doing too well. However, that did not stop them from having a chat.

According to Madowo, the 41-year-old politician was optimistic about moving back to Nairobi after recovering.

The celebrated journalist let it slip that he teased Okoth about vying for the governorship of Nairobi.

However, he declined and told Madowo that he just wanted to serve the residents of Kibra.

The 32-year-old newsman described Okoth as a resilient man who fought until the end.

Madowo praised him for not allowing cancer to get in his way.

"He kept his constituency running and his team attended to people’s needs.

"He was undergoing a major health crisis but didn’t want to distract from the work he was elected to do. This man was special," he wrote.
