Angry Locals Rant After Ken Okoth's Cremation [VIDEO]

Kasipul Kabondo residents were enraged by the cremation of the late Kibra MP Ken Okoth, on Saturday, at Kariakor, Nairobi.

During an interview with the media, the residents expressed their anger, noting that they needed one last look at the MP's body before burial.

They further noted that Okoth's traditions did not allow him to be burnt, but rather buried with dignity and have his grave marked.

The crowd cheered on as the woman being interviewed blamed Okoth’s widow, Monica, complaining that they missed the opportunity to bid farewell to the charismatic leader.

She continued to narrate how unfair it was for the widow to have denied the legislators mother the opportunity to bury her son.

As a bitter resident, she noted that the widow did not understand the suffering Okoth’s mother, Angeline Ajwang went through, during his birth.

“A European took our Luo son and burnt him, how many children does she have? She should not go around cremating other people's children,” the angry lady retorted.

She then stated that most women would jump into the flames to be with their children and thus, Okoth's mother shouldn't have been denied the opportunity to bury her son.

The incensed lady then warned the residents of the area against marrying from foreign countries in order to save their kin the agony of not having bodies to bury.

“We as the Luo, if a child dies, we bury them next to our houses just to see their grave and be contented,” she added.

This comes after the revelation that Okoth’s mother will have to bury a banana stem so as to fulfil the customs of the Luo culture.
