State House Intruder Turns Wrath Against His Father

Brian Kibet Bera,25, the man who tried to intrude State House, has turned his wrath against his father, David Bera.

Bera told Milimani Law Courts Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi, on Wednesday, that he was a grown-up and his father should be barred from interfering with his life.

The fifth-year Engineering student at JKUAT came to the limelight in June, after he was shot by police officers while trying to trespass State House by climbing over the fence.

At the same time, Bera told the court that he wanted to save many jobless youths in Kenya hence his actions.

He pleaded with the court to forgive him and have him released, insisting that he did not want to go to a mental facility.

He added that if he continued to stay in lockup and brush shoulders with the police and doctors, he might 'kill them'.

However, the court directed that he still be held at a mental facility for a period of two months, under his father's care.

Last month, he apologised to the president and promised not to repeat his actions.

His father had earlier revealed to Citizen TV that his son was suffering from a medical disorder, which he blamed for his daring action.

Before his attempt to gain entry into State House, he had posted his plans on Facebook.

He will appear in court on October 9, 2019, to find out whether he will be charged or not.
