Ex-MP Cries Out After Getting Slapped by Traffic Officer

Former Gatundu North Member of Parliament, Clement Kungu Waibara, presented himself to the police following an assault incident that happened on July 31, 2019.

Reports by Citizen Digital stated that the former legislator's case was under investigation after he claimed to have been smashed by a traffic officer.

Kungu was reportedly slapped twice across the face by an officer manning the T-mall roundabout along Lang'ata road.

He went on to claim that he had alighted from his vehicle at the intersection in order to consult with the officer regarding the shortest route to Kenyatta National Hospital.

The leader from Gatundu also claimed to have sustained serious injuries on his cheeks from the allegedly unprovoked assault.

“Instead the traffic officer manning the roundabout started violently pushing and slapped me twice on the face, injuring my left eye and cheek,” the MP narrated.

The incident report also disclosed that Kungu was saved by another officer who was in the vicinity.

The former lawmaker revealed that he was in the company of his wife and two other unidentified passengers during the altercation, that happened at around 7:30 pm.

In a reversed-role incident, a motorist's video went viral on social media showing him wrestling a traffic police officer in his car, next to Nairobi Montessori Preparatory School.

The driver, David Gikambura, has since been arrested and charged with assault.
