Most Wanted Gangster Gunned Down After Fiery Shoot Out

One of the most wanted gangsters in the country, David Gitau Maina, was gunned down during an epic shoot out in a city estate, on Wednesday night.

"Notorious armed robber, David Gitau Kimani, who has been terrorizing residents of Tigoni, Kiambu, was today morning shot dead by detectives at his hideout," DCI tweeted.

Intelligence reports disseminated by Directorate of Criminal Investigations officers, had revealed that Gitau was holed up in an apartment in Kariobangi South.

The officers then moved swiftly to the highly populated estate, positioning armed personnel at every possible exit point, to ensure that the suspect would not slip away.

Once they had fully cornered the criminal's alleged residence and cleared out innocent civilians from the area, they knocked on his order, identified themselves as police officers and ordered for his surrender.

Gitau, who was caught flat-footed, was in the company of an unidentified female at the moment, Citizen Digital reported.

He refused to open up, opting to fire 8 shots through his door in a bid to eliminate the officers and escape.

However, the officers were well placed and none was injured from Gitau's hail of fire.

The DCI officers replied in kind, pelting the entire apartment with bullets, felling the suspect, as well as his unidentified female companion.

Reports disclosed that the Special Crimes Police Unit (SCPU) recovered a pistol and 18 rounds of ammunition following the raid.
