DP Ruto Stamps Authority Over Punguza Mzigo Debate

Deputy President William Ruto Sunday stamped his foot down over the Punguza Mizigo and Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) debates that have taken the country by storm.

In a tweet, the DP called for all people to focus on delivering the Jubilee Party’s manifesto and also ensuring the that government achieves the Big 4 agenda.

Ruto further called for legislators to stop distracting President Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration with raging debates on constitutional change.

In an ironical statement, the second in command also criticised those who have been engaging in the 2022 campaigns.

The JUBILEE administration will NOT be distracted from delivering on our manifesto & HE's (His Excellency's) big 4 plan by those engaged in the raging debate on Punguza mizigo, BBI or 2022,” Ruto tweeted.

He further claimed that those engaging in the debates were not truthful and had hidden agendas for their own gain.

They should be objective, truthful and conduct an honest conversation that is in the BEST INTEREST OF US ALL,” he added.

This comes barely a week after his close allies leader of Majority in The national assembly Aden Duale and Nominated Senator Millicent Omanga started calling for constitutional amendments.

Duale called for the creation of the position of a prime minister in the government.

"Because we keep fighting over presidential elections, causing tensions in the country, we as the pastoralist community propose a parliamentary system of government, that is lead by a prime minister.

"The party or coalition which get the most positions in the National Assembly and the Senate should produce the prime minister," Duale spoke.

On her part Omanga took to social media noting the ‘Punda Amechoka’ and we needed to reduce the financial burden on the common mwananchi.

The senator threw her weight behind Aukuro Okot’s Punguza Mizigo Initiative.
