Uhuru Gifts Students With Generous Donations [PHOTOS]

President Uhuru Kenyatta, on Tuesday, gifted Mary Immaculate Academy and Nyachogochogo High School with brand new 52-seater buses as well as an assortment of indigenous tree seedlings.

Speaking while at State House in Nakuru, Uhuru challenged the young students to be mindful and diligently look after the environment.

The Jubilee leader played host, as the various winners of the 93rd Kenya Music Festival performed for him.

He went on to state that the event was important in fostering unity and cohesion, as it builds on the diversity of the nation, adding that the annual music festival brings out the beauty of the cultural diversity that makes Kenya unique and strong.

During his address to the students and their teachers, Uhuru singled out some Ugandan schools that had taken part in the festival, going on to announce that it was his wish to see more participants from other East African Community member states.

“I would like to see all East African countries take part in this festival to make it a truly East African festival," Uhuru reiterated.

“This event has entertained, informed but also brought us together and the performances get better each year,” he added.

Uhuru also touched on the hotly debated Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC), stating that arts and music were no longer sidelined subjects, but rather an integral part of the system.

The visibly excited students, as well as their teacher, then took time to pose for some pictures with the president.
