Nakuru Senator, Susan Kihika, on Thursday, broke her silence after she was assaulted by a member of President Uhuru Kenyatta's security detail.
In a video that went viral on social media platforms on Wednesday, a lady believed to be a member the president's security personnel was seen slapping the Nakuru senator.
The Standard reported that Kihika explained that the bodyguard tried to rough her up, in an attempt to eject her from the line.
“A male officer came and roughed me up trying to physically eject me from a line the leaders were waiting.
"We got into a tussle and a woman came to separate us as she was trying to calm down the situation,” she explained.
Njoro MP, Charity Kathambi, divulged that two security officers had ordered that MCA's to move out of line, after which they complied.
"When the two came back they found the senator on the line. They thought she was one of the MCAs. The male security officer shouted as he pushed her away," the Njoro MP noted.
It is alleged that the bodyguard, who was dressed in civilian clothes, had confronted some of the lawmakers for carrying handbags. She cited that the bags posed security threats.
Some of the leaders who were present during the scene, Nakuru West MP, Samuel Arama, Gilgil MP, Martha Wangari and County Speaker, Joel Kairu, were seen trying to step in and quell the situation.
