President William Ruto has pledged to donate Ksh100 million to the Africa Inland Church (AIC).

Speaking during a church service in AIC Loglogo, Marsabit County, on Sunday, November 16, the Head of State said that the money will cater for the "ongoing works" within the church.

"I went to visit some people in Ileret, and I know that there is a lot of work that is going on there, and since I'm a member and beneficiary of this church, I will look for Ksh100 million for you. You will just give me a list of what you will be doing there. Have you understood me, bishop? " Ruto said.

The funds are to be directed to projects in Ileret, Marsabit County. Ruto directed his comments to the leadership of AIC heads in Marsabit, asking them to send him a summary of how the money will be utilised.

The president further said that he will take over the construction of AIC Loglogo. The church needs Ksh17million to be completed.

The president assured that he will ensure that the church is completed within the next three months and handed over to the management of the church.

"There is a church construction that is ongoing here and I have been shown and I sent people for a harambee, but I have been told it is yet to be completed and I have been told that you are remaining with a deficit of Ksh17 million for the church to be completed, and I have already told the heads of the church that we will finish the church," Ruto said.

"I have directed leaders in this region to ensure that they look for a contractor. The church will be completed in the next 2-3 months," he added.

Ruto stressed that donations made to the church are fundamental in ensuring that the work of God continues, especially at a time when Kenyan and African churches in general are expected to sustain themselves.

"This will energise the momentum of the great work that has been done in 60 years. People came from far and started these churches, and it is now our time to continue with the work," he said.

The announcement comes two weeks after he donated Ksh50 million to the African Divine Church Service for the construction of their headquarters in Vihiga County.

Speaking on Sunday, November 2, Ruto said that he had already sent the funds, which will supplement the Ksh20 million raised by church members to facilitate the completion of the Ksh80 million project.

According to Ruto, the clergy of the church have already explained to him that the new facility will have various facilities, such as conference halls and offices, among other amenities.

The Head of State said that the Prime Cabinet Secretary, Musalia Mudavadi, and other local leaders will also contribute the remaining Ksh10million funds to see the timely completion of the project, according to Ruto.
