Linturi's Wife Narrates How She Was Duped Into Marriage

Marianne Kitany, the estranged wife to Meru Senator, Mithika Linturi, on Wednesday, told the court that she had been duped into believing that the senator was divorced.

She told the court that Linturi had informed her that he was single and available, having divorced his three wives; Susan Gacheri Kimani, Mercy Kaimenyi and Hellen Mumbi Kariuki at separate times.

“I came in as the fourth wife," she stated.

She added that she was also introduced to Linturi's parents as his wife.

The former Ruto aide noted that the senator had moved into her Kileleshwa house as he had rent arrears.

“I came to learn later that he had rent arrears and I assisted by paying… he asked for some money to pay rent and much later I got to see letters from the landlord. I gave him Ksh200,000,” she disclosed.

Linturi also revealed that in June 2015, the two took a one year lease in a house in Runda to enable them to accommodate their six children as their house in Meru was being renovated.

“We moved in together and all the children except the last child because at that time he did not have custody,” she stated.

During divorce proceedings on April 4, 2019, Ms Kitany requested the court to ask the Director of Criminal Investigations(DCI) to investigate his husband for being involved in multiple marriages.

On his part, the Meru senator denied the claims citing he was still married to Mercy Kaimenyi and had no capacity to marry Kitany.
