Boniface Mwangi Launches Scathing Attack on Mariga

Activist Boniface Mwangi, on Monday, September 2, fiercely attacked renowned footballer, McDonald Mariga over his entry into the Kibra MP race.

Mwangi took to his Twitter urging Kibra residents to make a judicious choice in the upcoming by-election.

"Kibra people, learn from Starehe and Langata. They decided to elect socialites and they're now suffering," he began.

The activist further took on the football legend, stating that he has had no positive contribution to society, especially the youth.

He further cautioned Kibra residents against electing him as their Member of Parliament (MP).

"Mariga's contribution to the Kenyan youth was to get them addicted to gambling."

"He has billboards across Kenya promoting betting. Don't send such a person to parliament. Be wise," advised Mwangi.

In September 2017, Mariga was signed as the Brand Ambassador for a renowned betting firm in Kenya, before being joined by former Citizen TV presenter Joey Muthengi in 2018 as the co-ambassador.

Mariga is among 16 aspirants who were interviewed by Jubilee Party's election board on Monday, September 2.

Addressing the media outside the party's offices, Mariga said that he had decided to run in service to the community.

On the same day, Jubilee National Elections Board announced their choice of the legendary footballer after closed-door deliberations.

"Football star MacDonald Mariga will fly the Jubilee Party flag in the upcoming Kibra by-election," an excerpt of the party's statement disclosed.

Mwangi has declared his support for Editar Ochieng' a feminist and activist under the Ukweli Party seat.

Editar, is also the founder of Kibra young women network.
