Ken Okoth's Lover Explains Her Relationship With Mariga

The late Ken Okoth's lover, Anne Thumbi, on Wednesday, September 11, placed her relationship with Jubilee's Kibra by-election candidate McDonald Mariga in proper context, after they were seen together.

The previous day, Thumbi was spotted with Mariga when he presented his documents at the IEBC offices.

The photos and video, which went viral, set the internet ablaze with people wondering why the nominated Nairobi MCA opted to support Mariga and not her late lover's brother, Imran Okoth, who is vying on an ODM ticket.

Netizens argued that since she had been in a relationship with Okoth who was in ODM, there would be no harm in supporting Imran.

In an interview with K24 TV, Thumbi explained that considering her position as an MCA allied to Jubilee, it only made political sense for her to support a fellow party member.

“I was nominated to the Nairobi County Assembly under the Jubilee Party. I, therefore, am obligated to stick with the party’s choice in the race for Kibra parliamentary seat. Jubilee’s choice, as of today, is Mariga, and I needed to show him my support,” Thumbi argued.

She, however, declined to answer questions pertaining to her relationship with Ken's brother and whether she would support his candidature, in the event Mariga is locked out.

Thumbi first made headlines after the death of the late Kibra MP after she got entangled with Ken's family, over her son's inclusion into the deceased's burial plans.

A DNA test was commissioned and the results revealed that Thumbi's son was sired by Ken Okoth.

Her lawyer claims that since the revelation was made, Thumbi is yet to receive a penny from the family for her son's education.

“Ken Okoth’s family is yet to pay a shilling for the child’s education. Since the MP died, Anne Thumbi has been neglected by his family. The minor is Okoth’s only child,” argued the lawyer, Elkana Mogaka.

Thumbi and Ken reportedly started dating in 2013.
