Suicidal Nairobi Tycoon Causes Scene During Lover's Murder Hearing

A suicidal Nairobi-based businessman caused a scene in an Eldoret court on Monday, September 16, during the hearing of the murder trial of slain police officer Robina Moraa.

Moraa's body was discovered lying in a pool of blood at her rented house in Miti Moja Estate on the outskirts of Eldoret town and the businessman, Joshua Ogach, was arrested in connection to her murder.

According to the Daily Nation, Ogach, who had reportedly attempted suicide by taking poison before he got arrested, appeared in court too frail to speak and vomited.

He was appearing in court to respond to an application by the investigating officer, who sought to have him detained for five days to complete the investigation.

“The accused person cannot respond to your application since he is in so bad a condition, that he cannot even stand on his own.

"The police officers attached to Langas Police Station should take him to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital," the paper quoted Deputy Registrar Grace Sitati.

It is believed that Moraa could have been killed by Ogach, who is her estranged lover, last Wednesday.

According to Uasin Gishu Police Commander Johnstone Ipara, the tycoon visited Moraa on the day that she was found murdered.

Ogach was reportedly traced and nabbed while admitted at a Nakuru hospital last Saturday, following his failed suicide attempt.

The case was set for mention on Tuesday, September 17.
