Ken Okoth's Wife Rejects His Son's DNA Results

Deceased Kibra Member of Parliament (MP) Ken Okoth's family on Wednesday, September 17, appeared before the court to make formal submissions on the September 5 DNA test outcome.

Reports by K24 disclosed that Monica Okoth, the widow of the late Ken, rejected the DNA results that confirmed Okoth sired Nairobi nominated MCA Anne Thumbi’s 4-year-old son.

The unsatisfied Monica argued that she had commissioned independent DNA tests on Okoth and Thumbi’s son, and is yet to receive the outcome.

She thus asked the court to allow her 20 days to get the results, which the commercial court magistrate M. Obura objected, instead of granting her 15 days to confirm whether the tests commissioned by her would give different results.

Okoth's mother, Angeline Ajwang, however, accepted the DNA test results, further asking the court to terminate Thumbi’s case seeking to establish the paternity of her son.

This comes after a DNA test was carried out to determine whether the nominated MCA's son was sired Okoth.

The result was released on Thursday, September 5 confirming that there was a 99.99 per cent chance that Okoth, who died on July 26, was the biological father of Thumbi’s child.

Thumbi’s lawyer, Elkana Mogaka, also requested the court to close the files of the case, affirming that the September 5, 2019 DNA test outcome is reliable.

According to the lawyer, Thumbi’s next move will be to file a case at the High Court (Family Division), where her son would be listed as a partial inheritor of the Late Ken Okoth’s property.

Obura directed that the matter be mentioned on October 2 after Monica's independent DNA test results.
