Matiang'i to Unveil Multi-Billion Project in Waiguru's Backyard

Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i, on Thursday, September 19, announced a plan to construct a multi-billion project at Governor Anne Waiguru's home turf.

Taking to Twitter, the CS stated that the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) would commence the construction of a Ksh15 billion teaching and referral facility in Kirinyaga following the conclusion of consultations.

In the statement, the CS further revealed that the county had granted the state up to 100 acres of land that will host the facility.

"KEMRI will now forge ahead with construction of the Ksh15 billion referral & teaching centre in Kirinyaga after the county government, represented by Hon. Charles Kibiru, DG Peter Ndambiri and MCAs, agreed to surrender the 100-acre piece of land at Wamumu area for this purpose," shared Matiang'i.

From the photos he posted on social media alongside the announcement, Health CS Sicily Kariuki and his Transport counterpart James Macharia attended the meeting alongside other leaders.

This follows his July mega-project launch in his own Kisii home ground shortly after he got christened as a super CS.

“We have launched the Kisii passport centre as we progressively decentralize issuance of new-generation travel documents from Nairobi, Mombasa and Kisumu.

“The station will be a game-changer in delivery of immigration services to the people of Gusiiland and neighbouring counties,” Matiang’i enthusiastically announced on Twitter at the time.

Matiang’i has been touted by top several leaders as President Uhuru Kenyatta’s successor in 2022.
