DPP Haji Imports New System to Secure Uhuru's Legacy

Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji on Saturday, September 21, announced that he was planning to introduce a Brazilian system of dealing with complex crimes.

The DPP who is in Brazil announced that he would ensure that the country adopted the SIMBA software that would enhance the prosecution of such cases.

"The software will enable the exchange of financial records between financial institutions & government agencies handling criminal cases," the DPP stated.

Among the organised crimes that the DPP will be targeting with the new software are corruption and terrorism which he stated were becoming more complex and thus advanced approaches were needed to handle them.

The announcement came a day after he had signed an MoU with the Higher School of the Public Prosecution Service (ESMPU) of Brazil aimed at implementing joint training, research, and academic activities related to prosecutions.

He stated that the deal was in line with the relearning strategy which is focused on training and equipping prosecutors with the necessary expertise and skill to effectively prosecute the emerging criminal trends in the country.

DPP also signed an MOU with Brazil's Global Institute for Environment, to enhance prosecution & investigation of Environmental cases.

Haji committed to building capacities of investigators and prosecutors in Kenya and the South American country when he met, Raquel Elias, Brazil's Prosecutor General.

This comes in the wake of several arrests of top politicians and key government officials who have been accused of corruption.
