Cohen's Sister Flies Out Hours Before Burial

As the burial of slain Businessman Tob Cohen is scheduled to take place on Monday, his sister Gabrielle Van Straten flew out on Saturday, September 22, The Standard reports.

According to the publication, Gabrielle flew out after Tob's will was opened.

Being Jewish, the family agreed to bury him as per the Jewish customs and four major rituals will be considered.

Cohen in his happier days had chosen a spot at the Jewish Cemetary in Nairobi, marked number 184, as his final resting place.

During the funeral, there will be no viewing of the body, as is the norm before most burial ceremonies.

In addition, the body will be wrapped in white clothing, as opposed to the usual flashy suits.

Reports by The Standard indicated that the Dutchman had marked the very spot his remains will be interred in line with Judaist customs and traditions.

The will was read by Kirundi & Co Advocates on Friday, September 20, in the company of Cohen's sister, Gabrielle van Straten and her lawyer Cliff Ombeta. However, Sarah Cohen and her lawyer, Philip Murgor boycotted the process.

According to the Star, Lawyer Chege Kirundi, however, declined to reveal the contents of Cohen's will to the media, saying they were part of a court process.

Kirundi, the custodian of the will, revealed the media was gagged by the court and he, therefore, would not divulge the contents.

Citizen TV reported that Cohen left 50 per cent of his house to his sister, 25 per cent to his sister's children and the other 25 per cent to his brother.

The tycoon's sister also inherited all the money in his bank account.
