An emotional father, David Njeru, on Monday, September 23, narrated of how he had learnt of his daughter's death after the collapse of a two-storey building at Precious Talents School in Nairobi.
Speaking to Citizen TV, Njeru stated that his class eight daughter, Germaine Siti, was one of the pupils that had lost their lives during the 7am incident.
He narrated that his wife had notified him of the regrettable incident, while he was on his way to work.
"I went to the school and my wife and I agreed that she would look for our daughter at the nearby dispensaries as I went to Kenyatta National Hospital.
"Before I got to KNH, however, I was called and told that she did not make it," he painfully recalled.
Njeru narrated that her daughter was a top performer, adding that she had clinched the first position during her index examinations.
On the other hand, he was grateful as his class seven child was rescued.
Siti was among the seven pupils who lost their lives in the tragedy.
Evans Kamuri, a doctor at KNH, stated that most of the learners were stable, adding that only two of them had developed complications.
"The boy has injuries to the lung and kidneys. The girl has soft tissue injuries and no internal damages," he stated.
At around 2pm, 60 pupils who were nursing their injuries at the hospital, were rejoined with their parents.
Four pupils are still at the hospital while bodies of the children who died have been taken to City Mortuary in Nairobi.
