Senator Cheruiyot Escalates Onslaught Against Matiang'i on Live TV [VIDEO]

Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot, on Tuesday, September 24, came out to defend himself after Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i blasted during a funeral over the weekend.

Speaking on NTV's amlive show, Cheruiyot called out the Interior CS for lying regarding meeting Deputy President William Ruto.

"Supposing that it wasn't true as he alleges that he met his boss, then what is it that made him so furious to an extent of insulting me?" he posed.

The Kericho senator never swayed from his earlier claims that he was called into a meeting by DP Ruto at his Harambee House office, where he found CS Matiang'i, adding that those calling him a liar should look into the Interior CS.

"I stand and continue to reiterate that on that particular day, it was on a Wednesday, I remember it so well. That we met with CS Matiang'i in that particular office at Harambee House Annex," he stated.

The two leaders had clashed at Kerumbe farm, Nyamira county, on Sunday, during the funeral of the late Stephen Mogeni, a local tycoon, with a furious Matiang'i ordering the senator to stop lying to the people.

“I have never been in the DP's office, neither have I met him, let us stop lying in church. The lies people spread in public forums must stop,” the angry Interior CS barked out.

However, while speaking on NTV, the Kericho senator defended his statement and revealed that he chose to disclose the alleged secret-meeting story because he felt that the various leaders present at the funeral of the late tycoon were trying to paint the deputy president as a villain.

Other leaders present during the public altercation were Nyamira Senator Okong’o Omogeni and his Kisii counterpart Prof Sam Ongeri, as well  Governors John Nyagarama and James Ongwae of Nyamira and Kisii respectively.
