Raila Junior's Biggest Regret About Fidel's Death

During an interview with a Radio Africa-owned publication in March 2019, Raila Junior disclosed what he missed most about his brother Fidel who died in 2015.

The younger Odinga stated that he regretted that his elder brother died before the birth of his son.

“My brother passed away before my son was born so he never got to meet my son. For me, that is something I always think about. I always regret because I know he’d be such a loving uncle.

"For me, I would have loved that chance to have an interaction between me my brother and my son," he spoke.

During a separate interview with Radio Jambo’s Massawe Japanni, he narrated how the early years of his marriage with Yvonne Wambui Kibukosya were frustrating.

They made attempts to have a child and nothing was forthcoming for five years.

“I hope she (Yvonne) will allow me to disclose this. We had been married for a long time and we weren’t able to get a child in the very first years.

“We struggled for a very long time for about four, five years and eventually God blessed us with our firstborn a son,” the 39-year-old Raila Junior revealed.

The frustrations were mostly due to pressure from their relatives and friends.

“Yvonne and I were so okay not being able to conceive for those years, but the frustrations became unbearable because of the pressure from outside. I also tried so hard not to subject Yvonne to more pressure because of the situation,” he added.
