Matiang'i Forces Moses Kuria to Withdraw Order to Gatundu Youth

Controversial Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria was on Thursday, September 26,  forced to withdraw an order he had given the youth in his constituency.

The move by Interior CS Fred Matiang'i to assure the area residents of the government's commitments in ensuring their security was taken care of did the trick.

Kuria who had accompanied the CS revealed that he had earlier instructed the area youth to 'be their own security' if the government had failed to do so.

He further stated that the reassurance by Matiang'i had prompted him to retract his order.

"I had given you an order to protect yourselves if the government failed to do so. The CS has assured us of the government's commitment. Therefore I withdraw that order," Kuria announced.

Kuria also asked Matiang'i to confront employees of the Interior Ministry in the region stating that they had a habit of working for a few hours in a day.

"Please ask the employees of the ministry to explain if they want to work for the government or sell land, they usually work for three hours in a day then the rest of the day go off to sell land," Kuria told Matiang'i

As if in agreement with the MP's claims, the CS ordered the transfer of all security officials in the area in a bid to improve security.

"We shall advertise for the position of chiefs and assistant chiefs for recruitment and those who have already been interviewed, we shall hasten the process to ensure the residents are getting the services they need,"

"I have had talks with the Inspector General of Police and to the criminal gangs, I say we shall be hard on them," he assured.
