The Directorate of Criminal Investigations on Thursday, September 26, raised alarm over the rise of pastries baked using drugs.

In a raid conducted in Riruta, Nairobi on Wednesday night, detectives from Kilimani confiscated 68 tubes of suspected cocaine as well as several sachets of bhang and Kamagra Oral Jelly.

The Intelligence-led operation also saw the confiscation of several brown cookies believed to have been baked using the drugs.

Five hundred and eight empty tubes for packaging, a weighing machine, three laptops, and some envelopes were also recovered during the operation

Two suspects, Mohamed Kebbay (23) and 29-year-old Jogy Fondo were also arrested by the DCI sleuths.

Officers later processed the crime scene with the suspects awaiting arraignment.

This case brings to light recent successful raids. On the same night, DCI impounded six motor vehicles confirmed to have been stolen from their countries of origin and smuggled into Kenya.

The vehicles comprised three Mercedes-Benzes, and three Range Rovers. Three of the vehicles were found to been processed as semi-trailers and one Range Rover had a Toyota Probox registration number.

Further investigations by Interpol also established that one of the Mercedes Benzes was robbed from Tshegofasto Mabyane in South Africa while one of the Range Rovers was reported stolen in the UK.
