Royal Media Presenter Opens Up About Depression, Suicidal Thoughts

Hot 96 FM presenter Annitah Raey on Friday, September 27, revealed her ongoing struggle with depression and suicidal thoughts in yet another reminder of the less-talked-about silent killer.

In a series of posts on Instagram stories, Annitah Raey opened up about her constant mood swings and an enduring urge to give up on life.

She was always vocal about mental health both on social media and radio but her recent posts had fans worried about her wellbeing.

"It is the loudest and happiest people who die of depression..of all the things I've fought with, this is by far the worst," Raey revealed in a series of posts.

She reflected on some of the recurrent questions running through her mind as she processed her unsettling situation.

"But let me tell you what doesn't make sense sometimes.....Why can't they live for me? Why don't I feel like I'm worth it...Why do I feel like I'm drowning? Why do I feel like I'm dying inside? Why do I feel like there is no reason for me to breathe?" she added.

She divulged how her state of mind inclined her to want to ''disappear from the world'' adding that she was getting too overwhelmed.

She had earlier In February 2018, revealed how she got married at the tender age of 17. She disclosed that her husband had also been abusive.

The former Radio Africa presenter started her media career when veteran Hip Hop star, Julisu Owino, popularly known as Maji Maji discovered her and gave her a show on Ghetto Radio.

She climbed through the ranks and went on to work at Milele FM and Radio Jambo in 2017 where she became one of the most popular voices on the radio.

She would later leave in 2018 after landing a job at Royal Media Services' Hot 96 FM.
