DCI Kinoti Swings Into Action After Gov Ngilu's Audio Leaked

Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti and Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai on Friday, September 27, ordered investigations to get to the bottom of tension that had gripped Enyali Sub-county in Kitui, just days after a controversial audio allegedly of area Governor Charity Ngilu surfaced online.

"Don't think those guns are powerful than our bows and arrows. I will leave you [locals] with money so that you deal with these people. There is no other option. I am not lying to you.

"I will call our young men and train them on how to use bows, arrows and guns so that we do away with these people. We are tired of democracy. We Kambas do not have people called Hassan or whatever," the voice was hear saying.

Kinoti and Mutyambai were accompanied by DPP Noordin Haji for a tour of the area in question and established that no permanent residence had been destroyed, contrary to claims going round on social media on the same.

The mission found that following an inter-county security meeting, herders who had illegally invaded Kitui were asked to leave after adequate notice to calm the rising tension between two communities in the area. This was done in an orderly friendly manner.

It was further established that there was no inter-community animosity or conflict and no camel had been shot or killed and that the two communities co-exist peacefully.

MPs from the Somali community had ordered for Ngilu's arrest, accusing her of incitement following the video.

The legislators were led by Eldas MP, Adan Keynan, who blasted Ngilu over her comments asserting that Somali community members had a right to live in Kenya.

"Members of the Somali Community living in Kenya do not live at the mercy of anybody. They are Kenyan citizens entitled to live, move freely and do legitimate businesses in any part of the country.

“Any leader who believes a section of the Nation is their tribal cocoon is not only misguided but is also trading on a dangerous path," Keynan reacted on Facebook.
