Ruto Unveils Grand Plan to Take Charge of Kibra Seat

Deputy President (DP) William Ruto on Sunday, September 29 unveiled his master plan in winning the Kibra by-election.

Speaking at Kapseret Constituency in Uasin Gishu County, the DP said he would be on the frontline in Kibra campaigns that would see Jubilee pitch camp in Kibra, ensuring that McDonald Mariga, wins the Parliamentary seat, Standard reports.

He went ahead to assure Kenyans that the Jubilee party will, by all means, clinch the Kibra seat in the November mini-poll.

He further took a swipe at ODM leader Raila Odinga stating that the sorry state of Kibra constituency was due to negligence.

“I was shocked when an individual lay claim that Kibra is their political bedroom and the region did not even have toilets and locals are grappling with dire sanitation challenges. It is the Jubilee government that built roads and public toilets in Kibra,” he mocked.

Ruto then spelled doom on those who according to him, were seeking to change the constitution "through the back door", affirming that they were bound to fail.

He explained that matters relating to constitution change required the input of all Kenyans and not few 'special' politicians.

“Politicians have perfected the art of sitting in high-end hotels and offices to make legislation for the people. But people have become cleverer now. It is not possible to use a short cut to change the Constitution,” he retorted.

This comes after Mariga's campaign in Kibra that was the talk of the town after the renowned former footballer bought a piece of pencil art from a boy at a whooping Ksh 50,000.

The renowned former footballer accompanied by nominated senator Millicent Omanga, Dagoretti South Member of Parliament John Kiarie - who played the role of the master of ceremony and several other Jubilee party leaders, Mariga made his way into the heart of the constituency he hopes to represent in parliament.

By the time the young boy made his way off the stage, he was Ksh 105,000 richer, with senator Omanga splashing out Ksh 20,000 and several other leaders as well, in solidarity with their party's candidate.
