Uhuru Rewards Muthaura, 72, With Job Extention

President Uhuru Kenyatta has appointed former Head of Civil Service Francis Muthaura to be chair the KRA Board of Directors. 

An issue of the Kenya Gazette released on Friday, October 4, 2019, stated that Muthaura had been appointed for three years. 

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 6 (2) (a) of the Kenya Revenue Authority Act, I, Uhuru Kenyatta, the President and Commander in Chief of the Kenya Defence Forces, appoint Francis Muthaura  to be the Chairperson of the Kenya Revenue Authority, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 21st October, 2019.

Muthaura had been appointed in 2018 and his term would have ended on October 21, 2019, but his service seems to have impressed the president enough to warrant a term extension. 

Mukesh Shah, Leonard Ithau, Susan Mudhune were appointed to the board of KRA. 

Paul Muchiri Icharia and Rose Waruhiu were reappointed to serve on the same board for a period of three years. 

Muthaura holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics and Political Science and a Post Graduate Diploma in International Relations from the University of Nairobi.

He is also a holder of Honorary Doctorate Degrees from the Kenyatta University and Kenya Methodist University.

He has served as the Secretary to the Cabinet and a career diplomat. He has also served as Chairman of the Lamu Port and Lamu-Southern Sudan-Ethiopia (LAPSSET) Transport Corridor Development Authority, Britam Holdings Limited and a former Head of Public Service and Secretary to the Cabinet, Government of Kenya.

In recognition of his outstanding achievements, he is a holder of Moran of the Order of the Burning Spear (MBS) and Elder of the Order of the Golden Heart (EGH).
