One Common Thing All Kenyan Presidents Secretly Enjoyed

A Kenyan president's busy schedule only allows them little time to unwind and indulge in their preferred pleasures. With the different personalities of the four presidents we have so far had, one would expect them to have very different indulgences on their pastime.

The three past presidents and the incumbent have each exhibited a unique style of leadership, but interestingly they have equally expressed unconditional love the Kenyan Coast as the perfect destination to unwind.

The founding president Mzee Jomo Kenyatta always drove to Mombasa for his holidays despite the countless destinations he had access to.

He enjoyed spending time in the sea even though he was not a good swimmer.

While there, he would rock a pair of shorts, an occasional floral shirt a hat, a pair of sandals and, his bakora.

While exploring the beach, Mzee would eventually take the sandals off and trudge the sand, barefoot.

Kenyatta's successor, Daniel Arap Moi always retreated to the same beach where he would take long walks before boarding a police boat and cruising the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean.

In solitude, Moi would sample coastal delicacies served on a balcony with the view of the ocean and the feel of its cool relaxing breeze.

Kenya's third President Mwai Kibaki also spent his days off the coast often camping at State House Mombasa.

Kibaki, however, spent his holidays in the company of his children and grandchildren and would sometimes play his favourite sport, golf.

President Uhuru Kenyatta, on the other hand, is a frequent visitor to the Coast. His silky paisley print shirts nowadays serve as a sign that the president is off official duties and your guess is good as mine, he's headed enjoy the sun and sand.
