Beatrice Elachi's Special Message to Sonko After Dramatic Comeback [VIDEO]

Nairobi county assembly Speaker, Beatrice Elachi, on Wednesday, October 9, made a forceful comeback to office claiming her seat with a special message to Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko.

In a video shared by the county government’s director of communications Elkana Jacob, the speaker could be heard assuring the governor that she was back and ready to work.

"Governor, how are you? You know how far we have come, I told you these people took advantage of the situation so as to acquire money because they knew you had closed all the channels."

"They sought to impeach the one who speaks for the governor even in prayers so that they can harass the rest, we will be waiting for you at the airport," she assured Sonko who was out of the country after he bagged an international award.

This came after a court ordered her reinstatement as the county assembly speaker overturning her impeachment by MCAs.

Justice Maureen Onyango cited massive flaws when the MCAs sacked Elachi in 2018 dismissing the assembly’s argument that the court had no powers to intervene in their legislative process.

Justice Onyango also stated that the six-page document did not have the particulars of her alleged offences.

Elachi who made a dramatic comeback was accompanied by women leaders among them Homa Bay Woman Representative Gladys Wanga who came to oversee her victorious return.

While addressing the press, she vowed to crack the whip on illegal foreign travel by ward representatives, urging embassies not to allow MCAs to travel outside the country if their documents did not contain her signature.

“They use traveling documents to manipulate members. I will write to all the embassies not to allow MCA's to travel outside the country without my signature," she affirmed.
