DP Ruto Welcomes Raila's Lawyer to Jubilee

Deputy President William Ruto on Friday, October 11, extended a welcome to city lawyer Nelson Havi, previously associated with the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) to the Jubilee Party.

DP Ruto, who made the gesture on Twitter, was responding to Havi's satirical announcement on the same platform that he was throwing his hat into the ring to contest for the Jubilee Party's presidential ticket.

The outspoken lawyer was seemingly taking the cue from DP Ruto's announcement that the Jubilee Party would not hand anyone a direct ticket.

Ruto, in the rather sarcastic tweet, urged Havi to begin with registering as a Jubilee party member online.

"You are very welcome Havi start with membership, its online," DP Ruto tweeted.

He was replying to Havi's tweet over the democratic way of picking the party's flag bearer.

"Jubilee has confirmed that it has no automatic Presidential candidate for 2022. I have, therefore, decided to put my name there. Ama namna gani ma frens (or how is it, my friends)? ^DoS"  Havi had tweeted earlier.

Havi's announcement came after DP Ruto announced that the party would hold nominations for its candidates during the requiem mass for the late Boni Khalwale's wife Adelide Khalwale.

With the announcement, Havi was seen to have thrown his hat into the ring for the 2022 presidential election.

"I am asking Jubilee members that as a democratic party that believes in open, transparent competition, each one of us will compete for whatever position they are looking for. To kick off the process early next year, we'll have elections of the party countrywide, so that we can have a grassroots network competitively identified to manage the affairs of our party," he announced.
