British Soldier Hospitalized After Near-Death Kenyan Experience

A British soldier was airlifted to a hospital in Britain after coming down with life-threatening symptoms following what was described as a drug-fuelled orgy in Nanyuki town.

British tabloid, The Sun, reported on Thursday, October 10, that the soldier, Pte Nathan Scott had sneaked from camp in order to access drugs.

The young private came into the country on Saturday, September 28, alongside 80 other soldiers for a training session at the Nanyuki base, the Daily Mail reported.

The publication reported that the soldier and a few others from the regiment had been sent for supplies in the township when Pte sneaked away.

He is then reported to have taken a cocktail of drugs, leading to the serious reaction that flooded him soon after.

"He stumbled in from his night out and other squaddies were looking after him but he was complaining his insides were on fire. After several hours they finally raised the alarm and he was rushed to hospital where he fell into a coma," a fellow soldier was quoted.

The Sun reported that the doctors at the army base had indicated that Pte had suffered massive damage to his kidneys and it would be months before he managed to fully get back on his feet.

He and another private were are set to be court-martialled once investigations have been concluded.

"We are aware of an incident involving soldiers from the British Army Training Unit Kenya. This is currently being investigated and it would be inappropriate to comment further at this stage," the British Army spokesman was quoted by The Sun.

He was flown to Birmingham, England, and met by a police escort who whisked him to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
