Raila's Daughter Demolishes KRA With Snide Remark

Raila's daughter, Winnie Odinga, was on the offence against Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) over a Twitter post by the government agency.

The institution had, on Saturday, October 12, posted a video of their staff watching the final metres of Eliud Kipchoge's historic run and cheering as most Kenyans were at that time.

"KRA Nairobi region staff could not hide their jubilation earlier when Eliud Kipchoge became the first man to run a sub 2hr marathon," KRA posted.

In a quick rejoinder, Winnie Odinga cheekily took a swipe at the revenue collection agency stating that Kipchoge's winnings should be kept away from their grasp.

"Damn it! We have to save Eliud from these goons," she stated alluding to the taxes Kipchoge would be subjected to pay after his victory.

It is not clear how much money, Kipchoge will make from the challenge but it is quite substantial with sponsorship expected to increase after the feat.

So far, the only pledge confirmed is that of businessman Manu Chandaria, who, through his foundation, pledged Ksh10 million to spend on schools chosen by marathoner Eliud Kipchoge, after his outstanding performance in Vienna, Austria.

The foundation announced that it would repair roofs of schools whose structures were dilapidated.

"Congratulations on Kipchoge's win. Wow. To celebrate, Chandaria Foundation will provide Kenya Shillings Ten Million of roofing to replace the leaking roofs of the schools of his choice," Chandaria disclosed.
