Ruto Sternly Cautioned for Using Senator to Reach Raila

Deputy President William Ruto was, on Sunday, October 13, cautioned for passing his message to former Prime Minister Raila Odinga through proxies.

Addressing former Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa during a public function, Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala agreed to pass his message to Raila but had a request in return.

He cautioned the former CS that without fulfilling his end of the bargain, he should not use them to send DP's messages.

Echesa had argued that the former Premier's firm owed Mumias Sugar Company and that it was people like Raila who sunk the ailing sugar miller.

"My brother Cleophas go tell Raila that all people with debts (to Mumias Sugar Company) including his company which owes Ksh300 million. We want him to clear it," stated Echesa.

In a rejoinder, Malala insinuated that Luhyas were suffering in Nandi yet the DP was having a field day in their backyard.

"Hon. Rashid, I appreciate that you have sent me to Raila, I will pass the message. I also want to send you to inform Ruto that our people are dying in his backyard.

"Echesa, we have given you an assignment. Before you return here and send me to Raila, go ask your boss to protect our people as well," responded Malala.

On Thursday, October 10, a section of some disgruntled leaders from Western Kenya banned Ruto from visiting the region over Nandi Evictions.

Speaking to the press at the time, the group led by Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala, claimed that it was unacceptable for the DP not to intervene, yet the over 1,500 Kenyans reportedly genuinely own the land.
