Trick Ruto's Son is Using to Win Over Raila's Political Turfs

Deputy President William Ruto's son, Nick Kipkurgat, is seemingly getting invested in the country's politics following his recent trips across the country.

According to a report by the Nation, Kipkurgat has, on the sidelines, joined Ruto's campaign team ahead of the upcoming 2022 presidential elections.

Quoting a source close to the lawyer, the paper insinuated that he is getting closer to youth from regions identified as former Prime Minister Raila Odinga's strongholds in order to drum up support for his father.

Earlier in September, Kipkurgat attended a tournament in Mombasa that was organised by the region's businessman and politician, Mohamed Abdalla, who is reported to be eyeing the Jomvu parliamentary seat in 2022.

Speaking at Kwa Jomvu Primary School at the time, Nick urged the state to take sports seriously in the coastal town, explaining that it was the best avenue for getting the youth out of drugs.

He also challenged the youth to show their leaders that they can be trusted in order to be taken seriously.

“The people in leadership will trust us and empower us if we show that they can trust us," he explained.

On Sunday, October 6, the trained lawyer held a fundraiser in Siaya, Raila's backyard, where he donated Ksh250,000 and together with others, raised Ksh800,000 for the church.

The speculation was confirmed by political analyst Herman Manyora who argued that Kipkurgat's latest action was part of a plan by his father to win in 2022.

“The only way the children are doing their things instead of their father’s thing is if they are engaged in community work," he argued.
