Likoni Tragedy: Sonko Fulfills Special Promise He Made to Victim's Husband [PHOTOS]

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko on Friday, October 18, kept a promise that he had made to John Wambua following the death of his wife Mariam Kighenda and 4-year-old daughter Amanda Mutheu in a tragic accident in the Inidan Ocean.

The first-time governor had earlier announced that he would provide transportation for the deceased from Jocham Hospital Mortuary in Mombasa to Makueni County.

“We have agreed with those in charge of the burial arrangements to transport the bodies and play any other possible role in the burial arrangements,” Sonko averred.

True to his word, the controversial politician offered a hearse to the family of the deceased and assigned some people from Sonko Rescue Team to help the family with the burial arrangements.

Following the kind gesture, netizens showered Sonko with praise and urged other leaders to borrow a leaf from him.

"Sonko, may God bless you for your support to the bereaved family. May the souls of Mama Miriam and baby Amanda Mutheu rest in peace," Philemon Lang'at wrote.

"May God bless you very much for the support you are giving Kenyans regardless of their origin or residence," Samuel Musee stated.

"Thank you very much indeed Sonko. May God grant you good health and wealth to always do your best to the people of Kenya," Benson Mwaura posted.

"Surely, why aren't all leaders like Sonko? They will only look for you during elections but when you are bereaved they are nowehere to be seen, Charity Auma commented.
