Disheartening Video of Police Officer's Deplorable Living Conditions in Flooded House

Police officers in an unidentified post in Mandera County appear to be living in a deplorable conditions after floods engulfed the area.

In a disheartening video seen by Kenyans.co.ke on Thursday, October 24, two police officers are seen lamenting about their plight as heavy rains continue to pound the area.

While seated on their beds and their legs submerged in water, the officers believed to be from Mandera County, seemed reserved to fate even as they are expected to fulfil their duties which can include participating in rescue efforts.

"We are inside a house yet we are submerged in water. This water will kill us. We face difficult situations in line of duty," one of the officers is heard saying.

The videographer then pans his camera to the left revealing the extend of flooding in the area that almost makes the house seem an island surounded by floodwaters.

Raging floods reported in many parts of the country have left a trail of death and destruction and an additional displacement of hundreds of families.

On Tuesday, October 22, five children drowned in Eldas, Wajir County as they attempted to swim in a swollen stream.

Wajir County Director of Education Hussein Osman confirmed the incident, adding that some examination centres had been moved due to the floods.

We are facing challenges in almost every part but we have emergency measures in place that will be applied when need arises,”he told Daily Nation.

On Thursday, October 17, another four people died after a flooded river swept away their pick-up truck in Kyaani, Matinyani Sub-county, Kitui West.
