Emotions ran high for Embakasi Member of Parliament Paul Ongili alias Babu Owino on Tuesday, October 29 after he was reunited with his old campus friend.
Taking to his social media, Babu expressed his joy after a tedious search for Cosmas Mutua, who dropped out of Multi-Media University due to lack of school fees.
The happy reunion resulted with the two catching up. The legislator then crowned by pledging to ensure Mutua completed his education.
"He arrived in Nairobi today morning, and we discussed several issues pertaining to his education which I will fully sponsor until he graduates," Babu affirmed.
The MP had initially launched a search for Cosmas who after dropping out of school had opted to work as a watchman in Mombasa.
"If anyone knows the whereabouts of this comrade who dropped from the university to be a watchman because of lack of fees to alert me. I want to help him complete his studies," he wrote.
His passionate calls had triggered a plethora of comments and reactions that brought to the fore the reality of unemployment in a country where close to 80 per cent of the population is below the age of 35.
While most begged for assistance to complete their education, most urged the MP to instead offer Mutua a job.
The situation was not any different on Tuesday as the social media users applauded Babu for his kind gesture, most of them urging him to ensure job security for his long lost friend as soon as he completed his education.
