Matatu Crushes Child to Death, Kills 3 Passengers

On Thursday, October 31, four people died following a fatal accident that occurred at Davision area along Njoro - Mau Narok Road.

According to Citizen Digital, the accident occurred after a matatu driver, who was heading to Nakuru from Mau Narok, tried to avoid a child, who was crossing the road.

Despite the driver's efforts, it is alleged that he still knocked down the child and afterwards, the vehicle rolled over multiple times. 

Three other passengers in the matatu succumbed to injuries while receiving treatment at Nakuru Level Five Hospital while others were reported to be seriously injured.

Njoro Sub County Police Commander Mohammed Huka confirmed the incident, adding that four suffered serious injuries.

“The driver is critically injured alongside three other passengers who have been taken to Newpoint Hospital in Njoro. We have launched investigations into the matter,” Huka stated.

In yet a similar incident that occurred on September 9, 2019, three people died and over 10 others were injured following a grisly road crash along the Nakuru - Nairobi Highway. 

The accident that involved a 14-seater matatu and a tour bus caused a traffic snarl-up along the highway between the toll station area and Delamere Shopping Centre.

The matatu was extensively damaged, with the front half of the roof caving in and belongings of probable passengers scattered at the scene.

According to Naivasha Sub-county Police Commander Samuel Waweru, several passengers sustained injuries and were rushed to the hospital.
