Uhuru Forces Ruto Allied MPs to Cancel Crucial Event

An event organised by Inua Mama scheduled for Friday in Nakuru has been canceled after President Uhuru Kenyatta's directive.

The president called for a meeting of all Mt Kenya leaders to be held on the same date as the Inua Mama event, forcing them to postpone it.

The head of state's meeting is expected to be held at Sagana Statelodge.

Highly placed sources allied to the DP stated that all activities had been shelved to heed to the president's call.

"Due to unavoidable circumstances, Tomorrow's (Friday, November 14) Nakuru event has been postponed. The Nandi event on Saturday, November 16 still remains on," Inua Mama posted on Facebook.

The meeting called by the president follows an escalated attack on ODM leader Raila Odinga by a section of Jubilee leaders, among them the deputy president.

In a series of tweets following the hotly contested Kibra by-election, Ruto has faulted the opposition chief over the chaos witnessed during the mini poll.

In his latest jab at Odinga made on November 14, the DP posted, "Waheshimiwa, the real saboteur is your master the people's conman who uses deceit to divide/destroy parties even Uhuru's Jubilee; the master of chaos who factors violence in election equations; the one who never accepts defeat. We'll stand with Uhuru and Jubilee against such dictators."

The Building Bridges Initiative's report that is supposed to be presented to the president has also fueled division within the ruling party.

Several leaders allied to DP Ruto, including Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro and his Kandara counterpart Alice Wahome have been at the forefront of castigating the president, questioning his leadership.

"He will meet regional leaders to make them understand the handshake and the BBI as he has been on the receiving end for long because of the two issues," an MP seeking anonymity informed Daily Nation.

On Sunday, November 10, both Kenyatta and Ruto cancelled their planned tours of the region. The two leaders were to attend to separate functions in Murang'a and Kandara respectively.
