Uhuru Visits Moi in Hospital for Lengthy Chat

President Uhuru Kenyatta, on Thursday, November 15, visited former Head of State Daniel Arap Moi at The Nairobi Hospital.

Moi's Press Secretary Lee Njiru told Daily Nation that the president had visited his mentor for a discussion.

“President Kenyatta on Thursday afternoon visited Mzee Moi at The Nairobi Hospital's VIP wing where he is recuperating and the two had a lengthy discussion interspersed with laughter,” Njiru told the publication.

He went on to state that the president had wished Moi a quick recovery.

“Mzee Moi will leave hospital as soon as possible once his medical team, led by Dr David Silverstein, allows him to be discharged,” he asserted.

The former president was re-admitted at the hospital roughly two days after he was last discharged.

Njiru, while addressing the press on Monday, November 11, explained that the former president was back in the hospital for a routine check-up.

He further urged the press not to cause unnecessary alarm, adding that he was in a stable condition.

On Tuesday, October 29, the ex-head of state was hospitalised for a routine exam before being discharged on Thursday, November 7, despite reports that he may be in a critical condition.

Earlier in October, Njiru termed speculations over Moi's health as hogwash, noting that the retired statesman was still undergoing treatment.

“If what people are talking about happens, who can hide such a thing? Those are alarmists and malicious people peddling false rumours. Where do they get such rubbish? Who appointed them to be the family spokesmen?” Njiru questioned at the time.
