KCPE 2019: Sonko to Throw Party For Street Boy Who Topped Exams

The Kenya Certificate of Primary School Education (KCPE) results announced on Monday, November 18, have seen most pupils, teachers and parents in celebratory mood.

One such candidate is Venerable Gituku Kirungu Simon from Makadara Children’s Home, who scored a clean 410 marks.

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko's communication director Jacob Elkanah, who spoke to Kenyans.co.ke, disclosed that the county boss was planning a big party for Gituku.

Elkanah also pointed out that the 16-year-old was rescued by Nairobi City Inspectorate in 2017.

Gituku, who attributes his success to hard work and trusting in God, hopes to become a pilot.

In the videos shared, other children from the home joined in the jubilation lifting the proud Gituku.

The elated foster brothers and sisters even brought in a drum, to express their excitement.

The top candidate countrywide was, in the results announced by Education CS Professor George Magoha Andy Michael Munyiri of Damacrest Schools in Thogoto who emerged top with 440 marks.

Three candidates tied in the second position, namely, Flavian Onyango of Chakol girls, June Cheptoo Koech of Sangalo central primary school and Sean Michael Ndung'u of Kitengela International School scoring 439 marks.
