Uhuru Pens Moving Letter to Grieving Alice Wahome [VIDEO]

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday, November 21, penned a touching message to mourners during the burial of the late Evanson Gibson, a brother to Kandara MP Alice Wahome.

While delivering his speech during the burial ceremony, Deputy President William Ruto, read out the president's letter to the congregation.

"It is with a heavy heart and a deep sense of loss that I send you this message of condolence following the loss of Evanson Gibson. His death has robbed us of a dedicated teacher, a role model and you will agree with me, a great mentor to our young people.

"Mwalimu Mwangi's accomplishments are a clear demonstration especially to the youth that focus, diligence and determination pays," the president's tribute message read.

He went on to state that the late Mwangi had left a mark in all the schools that he taught.

"Yet with all his achievements, I am informed that he was a humble and generous person. Those who knew him benefited immensely from his selfless leadership, wisdom and generosity," he continued.

"To the family, especially his wife Lucy, his children and siblings including honorable Alice Wahome, may you be encouraged by our prayers and those of other Kenyans of goodwill. May God give you the courage to move on."

On his part, DP Ruto stated that the late Mwangi had a distinguished personality, loving, committed, diligent and had a strong work ethic.

"Mwalimu was patient, gentle and composed; he exhibited no resentment and served the community through his philanthropic assignments. We will miss his warmth and humour," Ruto stated.
