Watch as Joho's Team Rescues Drowning Man From Indian Ocean

A young man was on Thursday, November 21, saved from drowning by the Mombasa County Inspectorate Beach Patrol Unit at the Bahari Club Beach Front in Mkomani Ward.

According to a video shared by Governor Hassan Joho the unit, made up of officers from the County Inspectorate and the County Fire Brigade departments was conducting a training session when the incident took place.

The team was alerted that there was a man, only identified as Richard, who was drowning.

"Mwalimu kuna ba mdogo ambaye yuazama (There's a young man who's drowning)," a man was heard speaking. 

One of the officers dove into the water and managed to rescue Richard, who was unconscious at the time.

While on the beach, the officers, led by Chief Instructor Salim Mohammed, resuscitated him and was rushed to Coast General Teaching and Referral Hospital for further attention. 

Governor Joho applauded the team for the swift and effective response that saved the drowning man's life. 

"I extend my profound gratitude to the Mombasa County Inspectorate Beach Patrol Unit," Joho posted on Saturday, November 23, 2019.

He went ahead to warn members of the public to be vigilant and exercise caution during the festive season when thousands of Kenyans travel to the Coast.
