Police Officer Burnt to Death in Raging Inferno

A police officer was on Tuesday, November 26, burnt to death in a raging fire inferno.

According to a report by The Standard, the man, identified as an officer by colleagues, was reportedly sleeping in a room adjacent to his business premises when the fire erupted.

The inferno reportedly burned down more than 14 businesses at the Brooke trading centre in Ainamoi Constituency, Kericho County.

"The police officer was burnt to death inside the premises which he recently opened after securing a loan from a bank," an administrator told the press.

The deceased's body was taken to Kericho County Referral Hospital Mortuary. The fire broke out at around 10 p.m.

An article by Daily Nation indicated that more than 10 people were nursing injuries from the incident and were taken to Kericho County Referral Hospital for treatment.

They were shortly discharged.

Authorities revealed that investigations into the incident were underway.

On Sunday, November 24, a family of four was burnt to death after a fire broke out after a suspected arsonist set their house ablaze in Nyunzu Market Makueni County.

The woman Regina Mueni 49, her daughter Faith Mangeli 27 and her granddaughters Angel Masava and Amelia Masava aged 5 and 2 all died in the fire incident.

Mueni’s mother, Monica Matolo survived the arson with slight burns. She was rushed to Makueni County Hospital for treatment.
